CHURCH CRICKET MATCH AGAINST ST MARY'S - 10 September 2017

The 25th game in this series took place at Master Park on Sunday 10 September.  Unfortunately this was the most rain interrupted game.  We were encouraged by an opposition player who had a 'rain radar app' that we would have enough time for a T20 and shortly thereafter he suggested we would be OK for a 25 overs per side game.  St John's batted first and in our 25 overs scored 136 for 8.  St Mary's team then scored 86 for 5 from 15 overs before the continuous rain forced the umpires to abandon, so the game was a 'no result'.  Click here for a full report of the match.

TEA AT TITSEY - 12 July 2017

Our church coffee morning regulars had donated so much for their coffee over the past few months that we had enough left over to go to the lovely tea room at the Titsey Foundation for afternoon tea on 12 July.  The photos below show us enjoying ourselves there.

CHURCH BARBECUE - Sunday 9 July 2017

Our annual barbecue was held following our Patronal Festival, celebrating St John   the Evangelist. We had a great time in good company and glorious sunshine in the    Vicarage garden and enjoyed excellentburgers and sausages as well as delicious salads and beautiful fruit puddings brought by those who came along. The children (and some adults!) had lots of fun on the bouncy castle.  Click on the picture to see more photos.

THE BIG CLEAN - 30 March - 1 April 2017

Nearly 50 volunteers spring cleaned the church over three days at the end of March.  We cleaned from the highest rafters (from the top of a scaffold tower!) to the parquet floor and everything else in between as well as all the vestries, the tower stairs, the porch, kitchens and toilets.  If it didn't move, we cleaned it!  There was a lot to do as we hadn't had a thorough clean like this for five years.  Volunteers ranged in age from 4 to over 84!  Thanks to all those who helped, inluding those who provided much needed refreshments.

CANDLEMAS DINNER - 27 January 2017

We had a fabulous evening at St John's at our candlelit Candlemas Dinner. The church looked magical and everyone was dressed very glamorously as we enjoyed a delicious meal and struggled with a difficult quiz, as well as winning some amazing raffle prizes. Well done and thanks to all concerned in the organisation of the evening.  Click on the photo to see more pictures of the event.
